Mission and Work of Serenity Fund

Serenity Fund is a charitable fund whose main mission is to help abused and neglected children. In particular, we have concentrated on creating healing environments for the traumatized children in the San Diego area.

At the San Diego Center for Children, we built the Serenity Cottage. This cottage houses 16 children. The architecture and interior décor have been carefully selected to create a home-like atmosphere, with soothing colors and designs for the purpose of aiding in the healing process.

At the Polinsky Center we have built the Serenity Baby Cottage. It houses newborns up to 2-3 year olds. We have talked with experts on infant and child development, gone to workshops and visited many child development sites in California. We then worked with architects and produced a design we feel greatly enhances the healing of traumatized babies. There is plenty of natural light, clean indoor air, direct access to safe, fun outdoor play areas and plenty of activities to stimulate brain activity. Based on the latest research on the rapid rate of brain development in infants from 0-2 years old, we learned that one can make a tremendous difference in a child's life in a very short amount of time. Every aspect of the environment for the Serenity Baby Cottage supports and promotes the healing of these babies.

The Serenity Fund has also supported many organizations which help abused and neglected children; The My Stuff Bags Foundation, Voices for Children, New Alternatives Group Homes, Gidget's Way, Angels, Piece by Piece and Childhelp USA.

Our goal at Serenity Fund is to help heal the emotional, physical and spiritual well being of the abused and neglected children …… one child at a time.
